The @BAILII Twitter archive now updates automatically on a daily basis

From my previous article, you may know that I uploaded @BAILII’s Twitter archive onto the web recently so that people can search it and use it as a very simple but powerful way of locating case law within BAILII itself. One of the problems however, was that the archive was only accurate up to the date you requested it from Twitter – newer tweets were not included and it would have meant requesting fresh archives from Twitter on an ongoing basis and manually updating the files on the web

Not any longer.

In brief, the tweet archive that you can access via @BAILII’s profile on Twitter now updates automatically once each day, adding any new tweets since the previous update and so increasing the size of the searchable archive on an ongoing basis

All this is down to a great Google Apps script created by Martin Hawksey that I came across and some time spent setting it up, getting the app authorised with Twitter as you’re using the Twitter API, and so on

I’m very happy with it and, as time goes on and the archive covers an ever greater period, think it will become an increasingly handy addition to the @BAILII Twitter account and for people using it to track down case law

If you want to set up something similar yourself then you can read about it here and/or watch the video below
